Rocker Wes Scantlin’s Drunken Antics Cause Emergency Landing
Wes Scantlin, the lead singer for the band Puddle of Mudd, was arrested in Austin, Texas after getting into a spat with a flight attendant aboard a flight bound for Los Angeles.
The 40-year-old rock star caused the pilot to make an emergency landing after he became belligerent with a flight attendant who refused to serve him more alcohol.
An Austin police department spokesperson confirms Scantlin was arrested and charged with public intoxication, but he may also be facing federal charges of interfering with a flight crew.
Authorities stated, “The flight was diverted to Austin due to Wes Scantlin, lead singer of Puddle of Mudd. Once the plane landed the officers did their investigation and deemed that the individual was intoxicated and was placed under arrest for public intoxication.”
The Puddle of Mudd singer was reportedly aboard the Jet Blue flight from Boston to Los Angeles.
Wes was immediately transported to Travis County Jail, where he is currently behind bars.
His arrest comes two months after Scantlin pled guilty to felony cocaine possession in Los Angeles in July.
Scantlin made a plea deal, agreeing to stay out of trouble and go to drug counseling. But, this latest arrest could violate that deal and cause the singer to serve jail time.
