Nearly every big name in Hollywood was at the NYC premiere of The Butler last night, including Oprah Winfrey and Mariah Carey, who dressed up her arm cast with a studded leather sling. Other stars at the premiere included Naomi Watts, who walked the carpet to show support for her husband, Liev Schreiber, who plays former President Lyndon B. Johnson in the historical film; Minka Kelly, who plays Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis; and Forest Whitaker, who portrays the title character and former White House butler, Cecil Gaines.
Oprah has had a busy week doing press for the new Lee Daniels-directed project, which opens on Aug. 16. During one interview, she commented on Paula Deen's racism controversy, saying, "In the very first days I tried to reach her and then I decided to stay out of it as I saw it blowing up. In time she will be fine. For me, it all just felt kind of sad." Oprah had previously interviewed Paula in March 2012 for her show Oprah's Next Chapter.
