Yo Dawg! Randy Jackson Is Out As Judge On “American Idol”
Randy Jackson is officially leaving the judge’s table on “American Idol”, but will stay on as a “mentor.”
Jackson’s return to the show for a 12th season has been up in the air ever since Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced their departures in July.
Sources close to the show reveal that producers are a little nervous about giving Randy the role as a mentor, but feel they need to keep him on because of his huge impact on the singing competition show.
Insiders believed Randy Jackson wouldn’t be axed from “American Idol” because of his past working relationship with Mariah Carey. Randy is her co-manager.
The only thing Idol fans know for certain is that Mariah will be a judge and that Ryan Seacrest will continue as the show’s host.
Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are reportedly ready to sign contracts, while Enrique Iglesias is reportedly being considered for a fourth spot at the judge’s table.
Minaj’s deal is 99 percent complete and producers are actually thrilled that Mariah Carey isn’t happy about it. They hope that tension between the two women will provide more ratings than they saw on Season 11.
Here’s a funny interview of Randy Jackson on “Ellen”, where she plays a game to see how often Jackson says “Dawg”.
