Dallas Mavericks Star Dirk Nowitzki Marries In Africa!
Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki married his Kenyan-born wife, Jessica Olsson, in a traditional ceremony.
Dirk and Jessica donned the traditional Kenyan apparel for the wedding, which is a big social affair.
Nowitzki and his new bride will reportedly be having a second wedding in Germany with his family.
The 7-foot-tall basketball player stated, “This is one of two wedding set-ups that we have planned to undertake and the ceremony has been very beautiful.”
Dirk and Jessica met last year at an event for the Mavericks at the Art Gallery of George Michael in Dallas, where Jessica works as the manager.

Brad Pitt got into character with a cowboy hat and facial hair for The Counselor in London this week. He started work yesterday on the Ridley Scott-directed film, which he'll apparently only shoot for a few days. The drama is based on a screenplay by author Cormac McCarthy and follows a lawyer as he gets into the drug business. Michael Fassbender joined Brad in front of the cameras today. Also reportedly lined up for the project are Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, and Javier Bardem.
Brad's on set in the UK, where he and Angelina Jolie have been staying as a family since Angelina began filming Maleficent in June. She's been in full costume and has had visits from her kids in between takes. Brad, meanwhile, traveled to Germany and also met up with pal George Clooney in the UK during his downtime.

A little while back E! reported that Snooki was interested in filming the birth of her first son Lorenzo (and also having three more babies as well). Now it seems that someone has come forward and offered to play director in the delivery room– Jwoww (who else?!) will be filming the birth of Lorenzo. And the best news? The video will never see the light of day– at least not in the reality TV universe. Snooki plans to keep it in the family. Good idea, Snooks. Delivery footage needs not become the new sex tape. The pregnant poofhead’s Jersey Shore BFFJWoww tells us she’ll be in the delivery room shooting the whole thing.
“She wants me to record it,” Jwoww tells us. “I’m going to set up a tripod, right there, zooming in.”
Zooming in?!
“Listen, I’ve seen that girl bent over so many ways,” Jwoww said. “Sideways, I’ve slept by her, there’s nothing that can happen with that girl that won’t surprise me.”
Jwoww went on to say that she wants to get a tattoo of Lorenzo‘s name, but will wait until after the birth (and after the birth certificate is filled out… and signed) before she heads to the tat shop. Also a good idea.
And apparently, Snooki is hoping for a second season of Snooki & JWOWW; if it happens, it would go down after the baby’s born. I think that’s a little cray, but crazier things have been done postpartum, so why not?
What do you guys think? Is anyone still watching Snooki & JWOWW? I saw the episode where she told her Jersey Shore roommates about her baby and impending nuptials and it was the definition of awkward. Pauly D immediately asked her if she had to buy her own ring, lol. It was bad. But I think she eventually got the support she was looking for or something. The important thing is that baby Lorenzo‘s all good.
And he’s gonna be here in, like, six weeks ya’ll! Are you ready??? Is Jenni ready??? I know she thinks she’s seen it all but ummm, that delivery room ish is gonna be on a whole ‘nother level, lmao. Good times, good times.

As you can see, the promo image we got last month is actually the coverphoto for the album. And this tracklist is very interesting. Gold Dust looks to be more than just a greatest hits or singles collection, it will feature songs that span Tori‘s long and storied career. There are some songs on here I didn’t expect to see (Flavor, Star of Wonder, Programmable Soda) and others that I knew had to be included (Precious Things, Winter, Silent All These Years). While I would love an album of new material, I am very excited for this release! I’m also very excited by the prospect of a new tour. Considering all the other 90′s artists releasing albums this year (Garbage, Fiona Apple, No Doubt, Green Day) I’m glad to see that Tori is releasing an album too :)

Last week we learned that The Jim Henson Company decided to end their business relationship with Chick-Fil-A after company president Dan Carthy publicly acknowledged his company’s homophobic practices. The severed relationship meant that Henson would no longer make availble Muppets toys for the eatery’s kids meal offerings. CFA has now partnered with Harper-Collins publishing to offer children’s books in their kids meals in place of the Muppets toys but now the makers of that book title is now distancing itself from the eatery as well. The Berenstain Bears family has posted a message on their official website alerting people to the fact that they want no association with CFA’s homophobic practices.
Dear Friends,
Our publisher, HarperCollins, is marketing several of their Berenstain Bears titles through a kids’ meal promotion at Chick-Fil-A scheduled for August. This program was in development for over a year. We were unaware of any controversy involving Chick-Fil-A until July 25th.
The Berenstain family does not at this time have control over whether this program proceeds or not. We hope those concerned about this issue will direct their comments toward HarperCollins and Chick-Fil-A.

Kudos to The Berenstain Bears for, at the very least, posting this message online to do their best to distance themselves from CFA and their hateful practices. This message seems to imply that if the family did have “control over whether this program proceeds or not” that they would choose to end the relationship, much like The Jim Henson Company did. If they were fine with the association with CFA, they would not have issued a statement at all. What is very important to note here is that The Berenstain Bears books, like the Muppets of The Jim Henson Company, are geared towards children. It’s important that things marketed to children are not associated with homophobia and hate. As I understand it, the Berenstain book that is being offered at CFA in this kids meal promotion focuses on the Golden Rule (treat others as you would like to be treated). If this promotion proceeds, hopefully the people who choose to do business with CFA will learn something about the Golden Rule.

The 18-year-old heartthrob was clearly hoping to keep a low profile as he and his heavily tattooed dad grabbed lunch at a strip mall in the valley. The pair has plenty to discuss as Jeremy has reportedly signed up to take part in the UK edition of Celebrity Big Brother and is being paid £100,000 to join the Big Brother house on Channel 5 next season. ‘He has been talking to producers for a few weeks and they have cut a deal, ‘ a source close to the show told People. ‘The fact that he is the father of one of the most famous people in the world means he was near the top of the producers’ wish-list. No doubt Justin’s fans will tune in to see what his dad is like. Justin is a little worried, though.’ Jeremy, who lives in Winnipeg with his wife Erin Wagner and Justin’s half-siblings, Jazmyn and Jaxson, split up with the teen sensation’s mother when he was two but has remained close to his son. ‘I have a great relationship with my dad,’ the pop star has said. ‘When I was younger, he taught me how to play some songs on the guitar, like Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door by Bob Dylan.’ Father and son also have several matching tattoos.

This is definitely an exciting time for London; the 2012 Olympics are underway and many of us just witnessed the amazing spectacle that was their opening ceremony (we’ll try to forgive NBC for cutting out Emeli Sandé‘s tribute performance). But well-know street artists like Banksy and Mau Mau have a different take on the London Olympics. A few days before the opening ceremony police started cracking down heavily on street artists, even making several arrests. They vowed to remove any graffiti they found, but that didn’t stop Banksy and a few other from having their see. Peep the gallery for two new works from Banksy and other street artists whose graffiti is mixing (and mashing up against) contemporary London politics and culture. I also couldn’t resist adding a few more Banksy works that were, technically, unrelated. Checkie out!
Banksy shared his two images on his website (which I just visited for the first time– and it was cray!) this past Monday. In one, an Olympic javelin thrower has a missile in hand, and in the other we see a pole-vaulter jumping over a barbed-wire fence onto an old mattress. Good times, good times.
I think my personal favorite is 100 Meter Dash by Criminal Chalkist– the main pic with the guy running off with the red Olympic ring (the red one represents America). Although, I understand it was inspired by a similar work by Maximilian Holden Perchik. I won’t pull out my art history textbooks and get into what all these things mean, but suffice it to say, me likey when art meets politics.

So we all had a moment a while back when I revealed that I am a ginormous fan of Issa Rae‘s web series The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl… as if I have choice in the matter. I mean, the show is everything hilarious and cultural and political and hilarious. All of the good stuff is here in this, my favorite show that doesn’t come on TV and isn’t Scandal. And now that the second episode of Season Two is up, I thought it’d be fun if we watched together!
