Earlier this year we learned that Mattel was releasing a Barbie doll based on Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. Today we learn that the company is releasing new Barbie dolls that will appeal to fans of Project Runway. Mattel has teamed up with Tim Gunn for a new set of Barbie dolls that have been styled by the Project Runway mentor. Click below to get your first look at these fashionably stylish new dolls.
Even a fashion icon like Barbie can use a little help from Tim Gunn sometimes! For his latest styling venture, the Project Runway mentor dressed two dolls in chic separates like dark denim skinnies, colorful blazers, classic trench coats, and buckled booties, as part of Mattel’s Barbie Collector series. Make it work, Barbie! The $30 dolls and $25 accessory packs are set to hit barbiecollector.com and Target stores August 1st.
Fierce and Fabulous as expected from a style guru like Tim Gunn. Altho I can’t say that I am a Barbie fan (tho, you’d never know it from the number of posts I’ve done on the iconic doll), I can appreciate her impact on pop culture. When teamed with other pop culture icons, like Tim Gunn, she takes on a whole new “life”. I have to say, I’m very impressed with the pricing. $25-$30 seems very reasonable for a collector’s item like this (as opposed to the $100+ Barbies that are also available) … who knows, these dolls might actually end up in the hands of children for acting playing.
