Produced by The Dark Knight‘s Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder (300, Sucker Punch) Man Of Steel is in some very good hands. We now get to experience what the lucky folks at San Diego Comic-Con already have (and some of you at the TDKR premiere too)– the first glimpse of a highly-anticipated project set to premiere next summer. The trailer is earning Snyder some Terrence Malick comparisons (Malick directed The Tree Of Life and The New World) and I don’t see that as a negative. With powerful, poetic imagery and very little dialogue– or action– the Man Of Steel teaser is a work of art in and of itself. Check out the U.S. and International teasers inside.
Man Of Steel: U.S. Teaser Trailer
An alternate, International teaser was also released, swapping out the Kevin Costner voiceover (Costner plays Clark Kent‘s father) for the voice of Russell Crowe, who plays Superman‘s father Jor-El:
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, I just went to IMDB to see who else is rocking the ish out of this movie. Aside from Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent), Costner and Crowe, we’ve got Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane (no relations to Lois) as Martha Kent, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White (yeesss)!
What did you guys think of the trailer? Aside from that lost shot into the wild blue yonder, there was really no action at all. The story looks a lot more narrative, and more like a drama than we might have expected, but I think when we see the official trailer, things will pop off a little more. And as someone who looooves an action flick that can make me cry (shouts-out to TDKR), I can appreciate what’s going down here.
Like Trent, I can’t believe we have to wait a year to see this but I have a feeling it will be totally worth it. Besides, I need a year to recover from the amazing emotional roller coaster that was The Dark Knight Rises. Come June 2013, I’ll be semi-ready for Man Of Steel.
